Michael Douglas admits to secret affair with ‘Basic Instinct’ co-star
Michael Douglas has revealed that he had a secret affair with a ‘Basic Instinct’ (1992) co-star, and it wasn’t with who many people suspected. Despite persistent rumors of a romance with Sharon Stone, the Oscar-winning actor developed a secret romance with Jeanne Tripplehorn while filming the thriller. The 82-year-old made the admission in his new memoir, ‘One Helluva Ride,’ which was published on October 6. Douglas said that while many people suspected something was happening between him and Stone, he was actually involved with Tripplehorn, who played Dr. Beth Garner in the film. The pair reportedly went to “great pains” to keep their relationship hidden from the cast and crew while filming in San Francisco. At the time, Douglas was still married to his first wife, Diandra Luker, but says the couple had formally separated and were living separate lives. He also revealed that he contacted Tripplehorn before including details of their relationship in the memoir, and she gave him permission to do so. The revelation is one of several candid stories Douglas shares about his career and private life in the book.
